Study Karate at home
The Martial Arts Institute has a home study course for Karate Training at Home. You are able to follow classes on your phone, tablet or computer and progress through material organized by belt level. No previous experience is necessary.
You can see an example of the type of learning videos contained in the app at the bottom of this page. All material is broken down into manageable pieces when taught and then repeated to build muscle memory and proficiency. Material is divided into belt levels so as you complete workouts, you can move into new material for the next level.
If you wish to get feedback at any time on your progress (highly recommended), you can signup for that below as well. It will allow you to submit a video to our instructors and then receive a customized video in reply with feedback.
We recommend that you bookmark this page so if you have any questions, you can come back here and get whatever assistance you need. Good luck in your training and we look forward to working with you!

We start by teaching single techniques, the building blocks of more complicated sequences called Kata.
The next step is to do repetitions of each new (and old) technique to build proficiency.
Once we get to some basic proficiency with techniques, we start to combine them with other techniques into simple combinations (shown here) and eventually more complicated combinations called Kata which is the core learning component of Karate.
